The contemporary home office
Our clients in surrey always thought their garden was too small for a log cabin. Running a business from home meant that the spare bedroom was being used as an office but that didn’t provide the space and efficiency ‘going to work’ would.
The cabin, built using 70mm logs, was designed to utilise the full width of the garden and that meant the removal of a shed and decking area. The shed was replaced with a storage room built as an integral part of the cabin and now gives the owners a place for bikes, garden tools and even an extension to the kitchen storage.
As the cabin would occupy the gardens sunny spot, the project was developed with new decking for summer dining and the use of two sets of double doors creates a really light environment.
The office itself provides a very useful space of 8m2 and with the added insulation packages, heating and electrics the client can use their cabin all year round.
