The garden guest room and storage

Its hard to believe that before the log cabin was built in this quiet garden in Woking there stood a run down garage used only for a few garden tools. Mr and Mrs Marshall approached
Nordic Wood during an exhibition with their plans to build a new versatile structure After a site visit the final floor plan was agreed and work began to demolish the garage and prepare for the new cabin. As both doors are on the long wall we recommended an extra log level in height to extend the roof cover and give shelter to the entrance on rainy days. The main room of the cabin is used as a summer house, guest room and garden room and is furnished as a cosy retreat.

In addition to the main room Mr and Mrs. Marshall still needed a place for their garden equipment and Nordic Wood helped them design a room just for this purpose. Still part of the main
structure and insulated with the rest of the cabin the workshop is large enough to be a ‘garden shed’ and solid enough to attach shelves and hooks for storage. Mr. Marshall worked alongside Nordic Wood and fitted his own lights and sockets. It’s convenient during this time for electrics to be fitted so that the cables can be hidden away under the floor and in the roof to give a very neat finish.

The light and airy appearance in this cabin was achieved using natural wood soap white. Wood Soap contains fat and oils that are primarily what wood needs to stay looking good. This treatment was applied to all the interior walls and ceiling and the floor was given two coats of Norwegian Troll varnish. The exterior treatment was chosen from an endless range of colours from Butinox .Two coats were applied to give the cabin full protection as well as a fantastic look.
